Background
Although the bride and groom now have busy careers on Wall Street, they decided to come back to their native Michigan for a meaningful home wedding. On a plane ride back to New York City, something caught the bride's eye as she glanced down at the stack of wedding magazines on her lap. The color combination of the magazines' spines - pinks and greens - looked stunning together, and so our color palette for the wedding was born.

The three-acre backyard of the groom's parents was the perfect setting for the elegant garden party that the couple envisioned. To take advantage of the expansive property, we created distinct, intimate spaces for the guests. Vignettes of wicker furniture and tall cocktail tables greeted wedding guests as they entered the backyard, offering them the opportunity to relax and enjoy good conversation and butler-passed hors d'oeuvres. Tables were covered in fuchsia and lime green linens with contrasting sashes, lending a festive energy to the cocktail hour.

Guests were invited into a separate dining tent to enjoy an exceptional menu including a Michigan salad with port-soaked cherries and beef tenderloin filet. To create a more soothing atmosphere, we softened the color scheme with apple green linens and soft pink napkins.

After dinner, guests wandered over to the dancing tent, where a 10-piece band entertained them late into the night. We again brought in the vibrant fuchsia and lime green for the low and tall cocktail tables in and around the tent. Clusters of white sofas in the tent offered a cozy place for family and friends to watch the action on the dance floor.

To give the groom and their male guests a comfortable space of their own, we created a cigar lounge at the back of the property. Using a color palette of brown and black, leather sofas and tall cocktail tables were set up to create an intimate open-air lounge. Tree stumps served as end tables and paper lanterns were strung to look like a canopy between the trees. We served only fine liquors in this area and hired a cigar roller to hand-roll cigars for the guests.

Before heading home, guests gathered around a huge bonfire to roast marshmallows and make s'mores.
